Liverpool owner John W Henry has revealed how Arsenal tried to trigger Luis Suarez's buyout clause for 40 million pounds.
Henry said Suarez did have a 40 million pounds release clause in his contract last summer, but the club simply refused to sell to Arsenal.
Talking about Arsenal's bid for Suarez in 2013, Henry admitted that Arsenal did meet the Uruguayan's buyout clause, the Metro reports.
According to the report, rather than live up to the terms of the agreement in Suarez's contract, Henry decided he'd rather play hardball and force the Gunners to take Liverpool to court in the Suarez transfer saga.
