Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani on Monday announced to invest Rs 3,000 crore more in the state in next three years.
While addressing the 'Make in Odisha Conclave-2018', Ambani said, "Reliance has already invested Rs 6,000 crore in Odisha and today I am committing to invest Rs 3,000 crore more in next three years in our various businesses in Odisha."
While inaugurating the second edition of the Conclave, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik invited delegates from across the world to discover business and growth opportunities in the state and also thanked Japan, who is the country partner for the event.
Patnaik added, "The theme of 'Make in Odisha Conclave-2018' is 'I Am Odisha' which celebrates all the successes of Odisha and their people in creating a vibrant ecosystem for business in the state."
Talking about RIL's involvement in the state's development Mukesh said, "We have created sustained new employment opportunities--both direct and indirect to over 30,000 people in the state. Jio has connected all major cities, towns and 43,000 villages in Odisha."
During his address the RIL chief also lauded Patnaik. He claimed that "Odisha is fast becoming an ideal investment destination and has been growing eight per cent per annum which is higher than the national average."
Elaborating upon his plans for the state, Ambani said, "Our aim and resolve is to ensure that India rises from the present 135th rank to be amongst the top three nations in fixed broadband within the next three years."
He also announced Reliance's partnership with the state government for setting up a centre to train local sportspersons under the supervision of world-renowned experts to develop them into Olympic medal winners of tomorrow.
The 'Make in Odisha Conclave-2018' is the flagship biennial business event of the Government of Odisha. The event began on Sunday and will go on till Thursday. The conclave will showcase the policy and regulatory environment, investment opportunities across focus sectors and the manufacturing prowess of the state.
