Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has been appointed as the new Wales manager.
The former Reds star agreed to a four-year contract to take up his first managerial post since leaving Old Trafford in 2016, following a spell as Louis van Gaal's assistant and also caretaker boss after David Moyes' departure.
"I am so proud to have been given the honour of managing the national team. The challenges that we have ahead of us with the Nations League and qualification for Euro 2020 excite me a great deal. I can't wait to start working with the players as we prepare for those crucial games later in the year," Giggs told the official Football Association of Wales website.
A prominent name in football history, Giggs during his time at United won 13 Premier League winner's medals, four FA Cup winner's medals, three League Cup winner's medals, two UEFA Champions League winner's medals, a FIFA Club World Cup winner's medal, an Intercontinental Cup winner's medal, a UEFA Super Cup winner's medal and nine FA Community Shield winner's medals.
He also captained the team on numerous occasions, particularly in the 2007-08 season when regular captain Gary Neville was ruled out with various injuries.
Giggs was the first player in history to win two consecutive PFA Young Player of the Year awards (1992 and 1993), and the only player to play in each of the first 22 seasons of the Premier League, as well as the only player to score in each of the first 21 seasons. He also holds the record for the most assists in Premier League history, with 271.
In 2009, Giggs was named as BBC Sports Personality of the Year, and was appointed an Excellent Order of the British Empire, a British order of chivalry, (OBE) in the Queen's 2007 Birthday Honours List for his contribution to the sport.
