Mandi flash floods: Smriti Irani promises all help, enroute to Himachal

Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani is on the way to Mandi and has promised all help and support related to the flash floods.

"Assure of all assistance and support required from the Centre," a statement released by the HRD ministry said.

Five bodies, including bodies of two girls and one boy, were recovered from river Beas after flash floods washed away 25 people in Mandi yesterday.

People who were washed away due to the flash floods include 24 students of Hyderabad VNR Vigyan Jyoti College and one tour manager.

The flash flood on River Beas has been attributed to water release from Laarji Hydropower project.
