Manipur Boxer Sarita Devi, who had refused to accept her bronze medal after judges ruled the 60 kilogram semi-final bout in favour of her South Korean opponent during the ongoing Incheon Asian Games, was returned her bronze medal after a hearing by the Olympic Council of Asia, reports said.
It may be recalled that Sarita had left South Korean boxer Park Jina reeling with furious punches, but was shocked when the latter was declared the winner. The result then left her in tears.
India thereafter lodged a formal protest, but the International Boxing Association (AIBA) supervisor David Francis rejected it.
