Marathon legend Pat Farmer to cross India Gate on 4600-km endurance run

Australian ultra-marathoner Pat Farmer, who embarked on a 60-day 'Spirit of India Run' to Kashmir from Kanyakumari in January, will be entering the last leg of his journey as he run through the historic India Gate in Delhi.

On Sunday, the endurance runner will have completed 3400 out of the 4600 kilometres of his inspiring journey.

Farmer launched the run on January 26, both India's Republic Day and Australia Day, from the southern-most point of India and has crossed 10 states over 48 days.

With less than three weeks remaining, Farmer said India Gate has been on one of the books since this journey was conceived.

"There are three pinnacles to this journey since I started in Kanyakumari," Farmer said.

"The first is reaching my destination my final destination in Srinagar, in Kashmir.

"The other that I've been looking forward to for such a long time is run on in to the nation's capital and run into India Gate, one of the most historical and iconic structures within the heart of capital of nation.

"The third is coming back to India gate for the grand finale party at the end of March," he added.
