According to The Hollywood Reporter, 'The Bridge of Spies' actor will play the part of the narrator, who is a magistrate in dilemma about his role in the post emergency state of the country.
It is notable that the book has been already adapted as an opera by Philip Glass.
Directed by the academy award winner Ciro Guerra, the project will be produced and financed by Andrea Iervolino's blockchain-based social entertainment platform TaTaTu.
"There is no one better suited or better equipped than Mark Rylance for a role as complex as that of the Magistrate in Waiting for the Barbarians," adding "The story is his to own and bring to life in a way that only he can," Iervolino said.
