West Indies batsman Marlon Samuels has been ruled out of the team's limited overs series in New Zealand as he will need surgery on a chronic right wrist injury.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Chadwick Walton, who has played two tests and the same number of one-day internationals, will replace Samuels in the 15-man squad.
According to Stuff.co.nz, the team's physiotherapist CJ Clark said that Samuels would need surgery management and as such, he would return to his country to seek opinion and advice from the West Indies Cricket Board's medical panel.
West Indies, who lost the Test series 2-0 against New Zealand, will play five ODIs, starting in Auckland on Boxing Day, followed by two Twenty20 internationals, the report added.
