The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) on Sunday announced to donate Rs 1 crore to Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra Government as a help to tackle the prevailing drought conditions in the state.
"The Mumbai Cricket Association has decided to give Rs 1 crore to the Maharashtra Government to tackle the prevailing drought condition in the state. The amount will be given to farmers on October 25 at Wankhede Stadium during India-South Africa ODI. The MCA will hand over the cheque to Devendra Fadnavis for the relief of farmers," vice-president of the Mumbai Cricket Association Ashish Shelhar told the media here.
The Maharashtra government has declared a drought-like condition in 14,708 of the 43,000 villages of the state, which means 34 percent of the state is under drought. This is the second successive year of drought in Maharashtra.
