The Ministry of External affairs on Thursday expressed concern over the Lahore High Court's decision to release prime Mumbai terror blasts accused Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi saying known terrorists not being effectively prosecuted constitute a real security threat for India and the world.

?"O?ur concerns on this issue have been made known to the Government of Pakistan in the past. These shall be reiterated. The fact is that known terrorists not being effectively prosecuted constitutes a real security threat for India and the world. This also erodes the value of assurances repeatedly conveyed to us with regard to cross border terrorism," said a statement by the ministry.

Earlier in the day, the Lahore High Court struck down the detention order of Lakhvi and ordered his release.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Lakhvi challenging his fourth one-month detention ordered by the Okara DCO on March 14

The court ordered his release based on the lack of reliability of the sensitive information provided and also directed the accused to pay 20 lakh rupees in surety bonds to Adiala jail.

Lakhvi is among seven people charged with planning and carrying out the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
