The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has summoned Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit following a series of continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) and heavy shelling in residential areas along the International Border.

This decision has been taken to ensure the safety and security of people, who are facing trouble for more than 100 days.

Earlier, in a recent attack, at least six civilians were injured in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan in R.S. Pura sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

According to reports, the Pakistani Rangers started unprovoked shelling targeting Indian posts and civilian areas in Arnia area of R.S. Pura on Wednesday night.

Later, they also started heavy shelling in Ramgarh area of adjoining Samba sector and other areas of R.S. Pura.

The BSF retaliated the shelling and gave befitting reply.

Heavy exchange of gunfire between the border forces of both the countries is still continuing in Sai, Treva, Bidipur, Joda, Arnia, SM Pur, Chanliyal etc.

Two BSF jawans have lost their lives in cross-border firing along the Jammu International border (IB) during the past one week.

The locals in Rajouri showed remains of mortar shells fired from across the border during several ceasefire violations by Pakistan. Pakistani Rangers resorted to small arms fire and mortar shelling on at least three places in R.S. Pura and Akhnoor Sectors.

In the wake of escalated tension and continuing shelling, the border people have been asked not to venture out of their houses and take all precautionary measures.

Border people have been shifting to safer places, while no causalities have been reported yet.Multiple ceasefire violations have been reported along the International Border and Line of Control after India conducted surgical strikes across the border in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to target staging areas for terrorists last month.

Pakistan has, however, denied the cross-border raids.
