Meet the man who became the face of GQ post full face transplant

A man, who was left with a distorted face after a shotgun accident, has made it to the cover of GQ Magazine after he received world's first full face transplant.

Richard Lee Norris, who underwent the extensive operation which involved receiving his teeth, jaw and part of his tongue from a donor said that when he was disfigured, people used to stare at him all the time, the Daily Express reported.

The 39-year-old man said that now after the operation, hardly anyone pays attention, unless they know him personally.

Norris had accidentally shot himself in the face during an argument with his mother in 1997 and but underwent a 36-hour operation in 2012, involving 150 medical staff at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

He was left with only 50 percent chance during the skin transplant from the neck to the scalp, but post operation, he can now start working on the "life given back to him".
