Memo to ACB chief is to create obstacles, says Vijender Gupta

Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, on Tuesday said the memo given to Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) chief M K Meena is unconstitutional and done to create an obstacle in the investigation.

Meena has been threatened with an inquiry by Delhi Government over allegations of negligence in performing his duty and 'intimidating' his juniors.

He has been asked to submit his reply within ten days on the allegations filed against him.

"The Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) are investigating five serious corruption cases against the Delhi Government. We have met the Delhi Police Commissioner today. The memo given to the ACB chief to give an answer in ten days is unconstitutional and it is done to create a hindrance in the investigation," Gupta told media here.

Gupta said that Bharatiya Janata Party has zero tolerance against corruption.

"We were assured that the ACB investigation will not be affected. Fair and free investigation will take place. The report of this investigation should come out in the public as soon as possible," he added.

Responding to the survey finding which reportedly say that the Delhi Police which comes under Centre, is the 'most corrupt' public service department in the national capital, Gupta said "There are different types of survey and it stands where it is, but there is corruption in Delhi. Corruption has increased after Kejriwal's government has come into power in Delhi."

According to media reports, the study conducted by Centre for Media Studies (CMS) - India Corruption Study 2015, shows 45 percent of residents surveyed found reduction in corruption across departments of Delhi Government vis-a-vis those of Central Government.

Kejriwal has been demanding that the Centre hand over control of Delhi Police to his government. Targeting the Prime Minister after the two recent incidents involving gang rapes of minors, he had said he will not let him sleep peacefully.
