Metallica's 'Hardwired.to Self Destruct' earns sixth No 1 spot on 'Billboard 200'

Classic heavy rock band 'Metallica' dropped its latest album 'Hardwired.to Self-Destruct' not long ago but is already earning its sixth No 1 Spot on 'Billboard 200' chart and was also #1 on iTunes India.

According to billboard.com, 'Hardwired' sold more in its first week than any rock album in two-and-a-half years. The last rock album to sell more in a single week was Coldplay's 'Ghost Stories' which bowed with 382,000 copies sold on the chart in 2014.

The 'Billboard 200' chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

Marking their comeback after 8 years following 'Death Magnetic' in 2008, the band sticks back to its original style in newest album consisting of 12 songs divided into two discs.

The album, whose songs range from slow to heavy rock music with some solos pieces by individual band members, would mark a fresh beginning for the band with a new logo variant appearance known as the 'Glitch' logo.

The album is said to have drawn inspiration from classic musicians such as 'Slayer' and Amy Winehouse with songs like 'Am I Savage?' and 'Moth into Flame' while the deluxe edition of the album consists of an additional soundtrack 'Lord of Summer'.

Following the band, Bruno Mars and Miranda Lambert debut at Nos. 2 and 3 on the chart.
