Russia's official media has claimed that the recently released satellite images show that the Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 was downed after it was hit by a Ukrainian fighter jet and not a surface-to-air missile.
According to News.com.au, Russian president Vladimir Putin has been under increasing pressure to apologies for the tragedy.
Ukraine and western countries have been accusing pro-Russian separatists for the downing of flight MH17 in July by a BUK surface-to-air system provided by Russia.
The Amsterdam-Kuala Lumpur flight crashed on July 17 as it flew over eastern Ukraine held by pro-Russian separatists, killing all 298 people on board.
German Intelligence authorities had earlier blamed pro-Russian separatists for the downing of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine due to the use of missiles captured from government forces.
