Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that his ministry has given clear directions to the Border Security Force (BSF) to deal with ceasefire violations and is working on enhancing border policing and surveillance.

"Clear directions have been given to deal with ceasefire violations and you have seen the results. I am visiting border areas and surveying vulnerabilities so that steps can be taken to strengthen it. We now have an enhanced border policing, patrolling and surveillance systems, and have also given strict instructions related to cross-border firing," said Singh.

There have been reports of ceasefire violations in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistani troops. The DGMOs of India and Pakistan have been holding regular talks in wake of the repeated instances from the other side of the border.

A flag meeting between the Indian and Pakistani forces was also held on September 4 at the Poonch- Rawlakot Crossing point in Poonch Sector along the Line of Control (LoC).

The flag meeting was held to discuss the current situation along the LoC and to resolve local issues.

Issues pertaining to escalating trends in trans-LoC firing, ceasefire violations, civilian and military activities in the vicinity of the LoC and other issues were also discussed.
