At least two security personnel have been killed and one injured in the Ghulam Khan area of Pakistan's North Waziristan after militants opened fire at a security forces vehicle.
The Dawn quoted security sources as saying that the vehicle was patrolling the area as per its routine when it was targeted.
The one injured has been admitted to Miramshah hospital.
The semi-autonomous tribal areas along the Afghan border have long been a safe haven for militants of all banners, including Al Qaeda and the Pakistan Taliban, as well as foreign fighters such as, Uzbeks and Uighurs.
Pakistan launched a much-awaited offensive to clear insurgent bases in North Waziristan last June after a deadly Taliban attack on the Karachi airport.
