In what could be a major breakthrough in the field of brain research, scientists claimed to have found a way to read people's minds.

In the study, researchers Alan S. Cowen, a graduate student at the University of California Berkeley, Marvin M. Chun from Yale and Brice A. Kuhl from New York University, have used fMRI brain scanners to detect and reconstruct the faces that people are thinking of, Fox News reported.

In the study, people where shown images of 300 people, then using 30 brain scans, scientists were able to determine the person the participants are imagining in their mind.

Although, the person's skin color or presence or absence of a smile was correct, the tests failed at determining gender and hair color.

Cowen added that there's definitely room for improvement and he and others have been working on improving the process. (ANI)

The study is accepted to be published in the journal NeuroImage.
