Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday ridiculed the Congress by saying he would never end the party's flagship Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), as it was the epitome of the former's failure.

"My political understanding says never end MNREGA. I can't make this mistake because MNREGA is an epitome of your (Congress) failure. After so many years of being in power, all you were able to deliver is for a poor man to dig ditches a few days a month," Prime Minister Modi said in Parliament today.
"The MNREGA will stay, with all its pomp. However, I will see to it that all the schemes that can be added to genuinely help the poor will be added to the MNREGA," he added.
He also condemned the scourge of corruption in the country and stated that the nation can be corruption free if everyone joins hands and decides to combat corruption together.
"Corruption has ruined our nation and corruption shouldn't be talked of in the context of politics that makes it into a "tu tu mai mai" format. If we all join hands and decide we will combat corruption together, our nation can be corruption free," said Prime Minister Modi.
"I believe corruption free services can be developed, everyone needs to work together to fight corruption. I want you all to guide us and we should together find ways to combat this serious problem," he added.
