Modi takes ABCD jibe at Congress, says 'UPA lacks ability to lead and take decisions'

Launching a scathing attack on the Congress-led UPA over the rampant corruption and scandals, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the Centre is not willing to answer anything and lacks the ability to lead and take decisions.

Addressing a rally at Amroodon ka Bagh here, Modi said there is no accountability in the Congress-led UPA II Government at the Centre.

"With Congress, we can't make India corruption free. For that the medicine is to free ourselves of Congress," said Modi.

"Now, the children will learn A for Adarsh scam, B for Bofors scam, C for CWG scam, D for 'Damad Ka Karobar'. This is a government, which is without a 'Neta' (leader), Naitikta (morality), 'Neeyat' (intention) and 'Neeti' (policy)," he added.

The BJP's campaign committee chief for 2014 Lok Sabha polls also took a jibe at Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh over his remark that he is ready to work under Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's leadership.

"Do we know what issues the Prime Minister raised in G20 Summit? When he came back, he only said who he wants to work under," he said.

Dr. Singh had earlier on Saturday said Rahul Gandhi would be an ideal choice for the Prime Minister's post after the 2014 general elections, and added that he would be happy to work for the party under his leadership.

"I have always maintained that Rahul Gandhiji would be an ideal choice for Prime Minister's post after 2014 elections," Dr. Singh said onboard Air India One, when asked if he would be looking to run for a third term in office.

"I would be happy to work for the Congress party under the leadership of Mr. Rahul Gandhi," he added during his media interaction while returning home from the G20 Summit in St. Petersburg.

Modi, who is leaving no stone unturned to win the election battle for the BJP both in the state and Centre, said the people of the country now regret their decisions that they made five years ago.

"The people told me that we made a mistake five years ago and we will correct that mistake of the last election," he said.

Modi, believed to be just days from being announced as the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate for 2014, also attempted to reach out to the common man ahead of the polls.

"Whoever joins the BJP I tell them this is not just membership. You become members of our family," said Modi.

"For the Congress Party youth is a voter, for us the youth is power," he added.

The assembly elections in four states, including Rajasthan, later this year have been hyped as the semi-finals before next year's general elections.

Modi is considered by many to be the BJP's face for the next general elections.

The BJP has, however, not officially endorsed his candidature yet.
