Modi takes on Congress, says 'CBI will contest next polls'

Taking a dig at the Congress-led UPA Government, Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will fight the next elections.

"The next elections will not be fought by Congress, but by the CBI. The Congress lacks the strength to defeat the BJP, so they have put the CBI in field," he said, while addressing the BJP's 'Karyakarta Mahakumbh' rally.

"Remember the excess of the emergency, if the Congress tries to intimidate by the CBI the people will not spare them. If we start writing at Bhopal, the figure will stretch up to Janpath in Delhi- such is the quantum of the Congress' corruption," he added.

Repeating his slogan for a Congress-free India, Modi said the mood of the country is in favour of the BJP.

Modi said a Congress-free India will help fulfill Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi's dream.

"Mahatma Gandhi wanted to end the Congress organisation but people within the party did not allow it. A Congress-free India will help fulfill Mahatma Gandhi's dream and we have to do that task. We must make each polling booth Congress-free," he said.

Modi also lauded Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's developmental model.

"What the Congress could not do in 50 years, Shivraj Chouhan has done thrice as much in 10 years. If Congress wins, they will destroy Madhya Pradesh," he said.

Modi accused the Central Government of targeting Chouhan.

He said that if there were problems in Madhya Pradesh, they were because of the government at the Centre.

Modi said that he was really impressed by the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister's speech, and added that the latter had fulfilled all his promises.

Modi further alleged that the UPA is troubling the states that voted for the BJP.

"In Delhi, they will give money to Kerala where there is a Congress Government, but not to Madhya Pradesh where Shivrajji is the chief minister. I want to ask them, why do you discriminate - the poor here are also Indian citizens," he said.

Modi also recalled the legacy of Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the founders of Jan Sangh.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who is seeking a third term in state elections due by November, earlier confidence that the BJP would score a hat-trick in the state.

In a show of unity, the entire BJP top brass, including stalwart Lal Krishna Advani, shared the stage at today's public rally.

The Karyakarta Mahakumbh is being organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, a founding member of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the forerunner of the BJP.
