Students in Manipur have said the monetary demands of the militant Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) are unacceptable.
N. Thoiba, Secretary of Little Master English Higher Secondary School said: " Due to extortions and threats, the number of students is decreasing. Even I can't come to school regularly and serve my duties. The militants threaten all my teachers."

The KCP had recently demanded Rs. 50 lakh from the Little Master English Higher Secondary School in Shamurou.
In protest, the students and teachers took out a rally and appealed to the militant outfit to withdraw their demand.
The rally started from the school campus and made its way to the Machu Cinema Hall.
The students and teachers want education to be a disturbance-free zone.
The demand for money has created a fear psychosis among students and disturbed the normal functioning.
"When such things happen we all suffer together. Our teachers are very tense and we cannot do our normal classes. So it is very disturbing," said Pinky, a student.
Over the years, unlawful activities by insurgent outfits have prevented Manipur from developing both economically and socially.
This has resulted in the migration of a large number of students to other parts of the country.
People want insurgent groups to shun violence so that development can take place, and the children can look forward to a bright future.
