Chelsea's sacked manager Jose Mourinho, who is the favourite to replace current Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal, has reportedly agreed a deal to take over at Old Trafford.
According to The Mirror, the Portuguese was 'close' to signing a deal to replace the Dutchman in the summer.
Van Gaal's job has been under scrutiny in recent times due to United's repeated poor performances in the Premier League and because of the club's early exit from Champions League.
United are currently fifth in the league table and are 10 points behind surprise pace setters Leicester City.
They will next lock horns with 13th-placed Chelsea on February 7.
