In a development that will bring smiles to its customers, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) on Monday launched nationwide free incoming roaming service.
With this the public sector telecom company catering to the two metropolises - Mumbai and Delhi - will provide free incoming roaming service to its subscribers across the country.
Communication and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad made the announcement at a press conference here.
Prasad announced that the government would install Wi-Fi at 2,500 locations in different parts of the country by March next year.
On the occasion, he also inaugurated wi-fi hotspots at 'Har Ki Pauri' in Haridwar and Dargah Ajmer Sharif in Rajasthan through remote control.
The BSNL is already providing free roaming services to its subscribers in the rest of the country.
