Senior Supreme Court lawyer Mukul Rohatgi has been appointed as the next Attorney General of India.
He will be succeeding Goolam Essaji Vahanvati and will continue at the post for the next three years.
Rohatgi had earlier served as the Additional Solicitor General in the National Democratic Alliance government headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Rohatgi had also represented Gujarat government in the Supreme Court in the 2002 Gujarat riots and fake encounter death cases. He had also represented Anil Ambani in the gas dispute case between him and his brother Mukesh Ambani.
