Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday indicated his prime ministerial ambitions when he said that a Third Front will emerge victorious in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
"No party will be able to get majority in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Neither the Congress nor the BJP will be able to get majority. The Third Front will emerge victorious," he said.
Yadav, who was addressing a gathering here, said an anti-Congress and anti-BJP wave is quite prominent throughout the country, including in the West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
"The Samajwadi Party is the biggest party in Third Front. Uttar Pradesh has 80 Parliament seats. The Samajwadi Party has its government in Uttar Pradesh and enjoys the support of the people. So, Uttar Pradesh will play an important role in the upcoming polls," he added.
Yadav also used the occasion to laud the achievements of the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party Government in Uttar Pradesh.
Asserting that Karnataka holds an importance place in his heart, Yadav further said that it was he who proposed H.D. Deve Gowda's name for the Prime Minister's post.
"I put forward Deve Gowda's name for the Prime Minister's post. I put forward his name there (in Delhi), supported and helped him. So, Karnataka holds an important place in my heart," Yadav said, while addressing a gathering of Samajwadi Party (SP) supporters here.
Recalling his party's long associations with Karnataka, Yadav urged the people of the state to strengthen the Samajwadi Party (SP) in national interest so that it plays an important role in Delhi.
Yadav had earlier on Sunday said his party would not have pre-poll alliance with any political party either at the national or at the Karnataka-level.
"I have personal relationship with some of its leaders; not political relationship," he said," while ruling out the possibility of a tie-up with the Congress.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was also present on the occasion along with a host of other Samajwadi Party leaders from Karnataka.
