Marking the beginning of the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai, a 'puja' was performed at the famous Siddhivinayak temple in Prabhadevi, where people started queuing up since early this morning.
Scores of visitors were seen thronging the temple premises while a number of cars and taxis were plying on the roads leading to the temple.
A devote outside Siddhivinayak temple told ANI, "This festival shows the spirit of Mumbaikars. People have been queuing here since so early in the morning. Mumbai police has also made good arrangements here today."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted people on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
"On Ganesh Chaturthi we bow to Lord Ganesh. May Lord Ganesh shower his blessings on us and enrich our lives with peace, joy and wisdom," the Prime Minister said.
