Myanmar's president to attend ASEAN-Russia summit in Sochi

Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw left Yangon Wednesday to attend the two-day ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit in Sochi.

According to official sources, the summit will be held on May 19 and 20, and will mark the 20th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia Dialogue relations.

During his stay in Sochi, President U Htin Kyaw is expected to meet the Russian leadership on the sidelines of the event and touch upon promotion of bilateral relations.

An agreement between Myanmar and Russia on defense cooperation is also expected to be signed at the event.

Myanmar and Russia established diplomatic ties in 1948.
