The Malaysia Airlines plane was reportedly loaded with items which have not been made clear on the publicly-released manifest.

There is mystery over the cargo of flight MH370 as it emerged some items in it were not listed on the official manifest before the plane took off.

Fresh theories have surfaced after a company who admitted to shipping 200kg of highly dangerous batteries on the flight refused to reveal the contents of the rest of their cargo, the Daily Star reports.

A manifest containing details of all on-board luggage and shipping items was released, as the investigation into the missing plane continues.

The manifest shows that the plane was carrying 4.566 tonnes of mangosteens, an exotic fruit, and a separate consignment carrying lithium ion batteries.

The batteries weighed 200kg, however the consignment totalled 2.453 tonnes - meaning a further 2.253 tonnes were present in the load, the report said.

According to the report, the manifest reveals that the shipping company, NNR Global, placed 133 pieces weighing 1.99 tonnes and 67 pieces of another item weighing 463kg into the hold.

However, they have only admitted to sending 200kg worth of the highly flammable batteries on the plane which were being sent to a company in Beijing.

The mystery surrounding the cargo was sparked when a spokesperson for the company which shipped the batteries refused to reveal what the remaining weight was made up of, the report added.

He also refused to name the company who manufactured them, insisting that it was confidential.

Malaysian Airlines have now said that the mystery cargo was merely electrical equipment.
