Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray progressed through to the Rogers Cup quarter-finals after defeating their respective opponents on Friday in Montreal.
Seventh seed Nadal claimed a 6-3, 6-3 win over Mikhail Youzhny of Russia to set up a quarterfinal clash against fourth seed Kei Nishikori.
Meanwhile, Murray overcame Gilles Muller of Luxembourg 6-3, 6-2 in a pre-quarter contest that lasted one hour and five minutes.
The British number one will next face defending champion Jo Wilfred Tsonga on Saturday.
