Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on has instructed the concerned stakeholders to formulate a new education policy for making Nepali people literate, educated and capable.

Inaugurating a workshop on 'National Education Commission for New Education Policy in Federal Nepal' held by Ministry of Education in Lalitpur district, PM Oli said that it is a matter of shame that even in this 21st century people in Nepal are illiterate and an upgradation of our education system is needed so that there is no illiterate in Nepal.
The PM added that education should upgrade people in quality, attitude, etiquette, behaviour and culture to make then replete with necessary quality for society and family, reports The Himalayan Times.
He further stressed on imparting education to tally with the students' talent and aspiration.
He called for an end to the trend to emulate foreign educational system and urged for following better parts in a traditional way.
Oli urged for drawing suggestions with planning to prepare capable human resources in all sectors. He drew attention towards the need to stop making education a means of business as it is a service sector.
Minister for Education Girirajmani Pokharel said that the Ministry was preparing to form a commission in the wake of the demand for a new educational policy for streamlining the education's quality and to make it compatible to the new constitution and federal democratic republic set up.
Minister Pokharel said the workshop must provide suggestions on the jurisdiction and member criteria of the commission.
On the occasion, Education Secretary Bishwo Prakash Pandit said a commitment from the political level was crucial for education's overall development in the country.
