Nepal has decided to close its border points with India for three days from Tuesday midnight ahead of the Parliamentary and the Provincial elections.
Nepal is set to hold the second or the final round of the Parliamentary and the Provincial polls which mark the dawn of a new governance and the implementation of the Constitution which was promulgated in 2015.
The closed border points will be opened from Thursday midnight after the polling gets over.
"The flow of people to and fro the border is high. Security officials also have been facing problems in managing the flow of people despite sealing of the border for the polls. Despite the flow, we are allowing the people with identity cards to enter Nepal from the Indian side and those heading for India are allowed to go," Area Police Office Kakarvitta's Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tanka Bhhatarai, told ANI.
He also informed that the security measures along the border sides were beefed up with the deployment of sniff dogs and strict checking of the people's bag crossing over the border.
Leaders of various political parties are holding exhaustive election rallies and meetings in favour of their party in different parts of the country as the campaigning for the second and final phase of the Parliament and the Provincial elections scheduled for December 7, is in full swing.
A 65 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the first phase of the elections on November 26.
