Detailed evidence presented by a new report has linked a Russian military convoy to the Buk missile launcher believed to have been used to bring down Malaysian Airlines flight MH17, killing all 298 people on board, over eastern Ukraine.

According to News.com.au, a report by Bellingcat included photos taken by a Russian soldier and driver that detailed the journey of a large Russian military convoy that travelled to eastern Ukraine in June 2014.

The Boeing 77 aircraft was brought down on July 17.

The evidence showed the involvement of the 2nd and 147th Automobile Battalions in the transport of military equipment through Russia.

That equipment included the Buk missile launcher filmed and photographed in Ukraine on July 17, and linked to the downing MH17.

The evidence presented by the new report included photos posted by Russian soldier Dmitry Zubov on the social media site VKontakte of the convoy that showed dates and the route it took into Ukraine.

Zubov's social media site has since been deleted, but a collection of his posts have been saved by a InformNapalm, a pro-Ukraine group.

The evidence has been forwarded to the Dutch investigation team.
