Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios aims to take the top spot at the ATP ranking in the coming five years.

The 22-year-old by far had a checkered 2017 and is still searching for his first title of the year while only reaching the final of the Cincinnati Masters and China Open.

"I'd like to say I'd be in the top five in the world, but there is a lot of work to do before then, I have to keep working hard and take it day by day but hopefully top five and pushing for that number one spot," Kyrgios was quoted as saying by the Sport24.

Meanwhile, the world number 20 also admitted that he would be lost if he didn't choose tennis a career.

"If I lost every match I played I'd probably have to go back to school, I'm not really too sure, I don't really know what else to do other than tennis," he said.

Recently, Kyrgios was stripped of his first-round prize money and fined an additional 10,000 USD for walking off the court in Shanghai Masters.

The Australian also got gripped in controversies when he said he "is not dedicated to the game at all" after his US Open loss.
