Nitish backs Kejriwal, dubs CBI raid 'bizarre'

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday trained his gun at the Centre over the CBI raid on the Delhi Secretariat, saying it sends an extremely wrong message to democracy.

The Janata Dal (United) leader dubbed the CBI raid as 'bizarre' as it was conducted without taking the Chief Minister into confidence.

"The decorum between the state and the Centre is getting lost. This is unbelievable. There is a way to do things. There must be probe. Did the Chief Minister know about the raid? If the cases are old, then it is all the more bizarre," Nitish told the media here.

"Our democracy lies in trusting each other. Everything must be considered before doing any such thing. It sends an extremely wrong message to democracy. All these things should be considered and it's such a bizarre situation which cannot be supported," he added.

Nitish's support for Kejriwal came hours after his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee also expressed her apprehension over the CBI raid.

Kejriwal had earlier claimed that the CBI had raided his office at the behest of Prime Minister Modi. He also went as far as to call the Prime Minister a 'coward and a psychopath'.

"I am the only CM who dismissed, on my own, a minister n a senior officer on charges of corruption and handed their cases to CBI. If CBI had any evidence against Rajender, why didn't they share it wid me? I wud hv acted against him," he said in another tweet.

The CBI has registered a case against Kejriwal's Principal Secretary Rajender Kumar for allegedly favouring a firm in getting contracts from Delhi government.

"FM lied in Parliament. My own office files are being looked into to get some evidence against me. Rajender is an excuse," tweeted Kejriwal.

Refuting Kejriwal's allegation on the raid on Chief Minister's office, the CBI said the raid was conducted on the Principal Secretary's office following a warrant.
