Nitish 'uncertain' about becoming future PM, looking for more allies: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday alleged that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is uncertain about becoming the country's future Prime Minister, is looking forward to more alliance partners to expand his support base.

BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh said that Nitish's move to meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reflects that the Janata Dal (United) is becoming a regional party like the AAP.

"Arvind Kejriwal is a regional player and is getting exposed more and more every day. That is why I would say a regional party should remain a regional party. If Nitish Kumar is going to meet Kejriwal, it shows that JD (U) is also becoming regional," Singh said.

"Maybe Nitish is not certain about his dreams of becoming the future Prime Minister and that is why he wants more and more people in the alliance," he added.

Singh expressed confidence that the BJP would form the next government in Bihar.

"An alliance between Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar has taken place in Bihar because they fear Narendra Modi and the BJP. And in this alliance, the Congress which is a zero player has also entered. But this alliance had to face a defeat in the semi-finals," said Singh.

"These regional parties, which use the 'caste' trump card, think that they can gain political power through arithmetic but the people of Bihar do not want arithmetic, they want development and good governance. And in this context, no party can be better than the BJP," he added.

The BJP leader further said the people of Bihar will vote for a party with a good track record.

"That is why the BJP will form the government in Bihar in the upcoming elections," he added.
