Now, robot band set to beat out new tunes

British record label Warp Records would soon be releasing an album that has been performed entirely by a three-piece band of Japanese robots called Z-Machines - the guitarist has 78 fingers, while the drummer rocks out with 22 arms.

The band's creators collaborated initially with composer Squarepusher to simply explore creating music with the bots, but eventually made an entire five track album, the Verge reported.

Despite the additional hands, which mean that the band members can play in ways no human can, composing involves its own set of challenges.

Squarepusher said that each of the robotic devices involved in the performance of this music has their own specification that permitted certain possibilities and excluded others.

He said that the robot guitar player, for example, is capable of playing much faster than a human can, but has no amplitude control.

The album 'Music For Robots' is set to be launched on April 8.
