Obama condemns 'cowardly' Navy Yard shooting

US President Barack Obama condemned the shooting at Washington's Navy Yard and called it a 'cowardly act'.

Obama said that though all the facts are yet unknown, but he is aware that several people have been shot and killed.

The president said that the incidence, which took place on a military installation, has affected both military and civilian personnel.

According to Politico, the president, while giving his speech marking the fifth anniversary of the economic crash, said that the victims are those who were doing their jobs of protecting the citizens as patriots.

The president further said that investigations will be conducted and whosoever has done the act will be punished adding that he will take steps to honor the victims.
