Thanking all the MPs to help pass the Juvenile Justice Bill in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Nirbhaya's parents said only hanging of all the accused will be a true tribute to their daughter.

"Our fight is not successful. It will be successful when all will be hanged. We hope that in future the accused will surely get punishment. It's not a tribute as all the accused are still alive. My daughter will get a true tribute when all the accused will be hanged," said Jyoti's mother.

"I thank the media and all the MPs to help pass the bill. I thank all the people for supporting us. I am happy that such a bill got passed which can secure the future. This can protect and save the women of the country. It's a tribute to her.it's a good message," said Jyoti's father.

The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday passed the Juvenile Justice Bill.

The parents of December 16, 2002 gang-rape and murder victim were continuously protesting the release of the juvenile convict, while urging both the government and the Opposition to pass the bill.

The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Bill, 2014, provides for the trial of those between 16-18 years as adults for heinous offences. Also, anyone between the age of 16-18 who commits a less serious offence may be tried as an adult if he is apprehended after he attains the age of 21.
