Oz soccer authority 'accidentally' publicises 'sensitive' personal data of fans

The Australian soccer authority has accidentally publicly released sensitive private information of defence staff, Australian embassy employees and foreign business workers, creating a major blunder.

Football Federation Australia has admitted mistakenly disclosing the full personal details of at least 277 supporters who bought tickets to next week's World Cup qualifying match between Australia and Japan, News.com.au reports.

According to the report, home addresses, private, business and mobile phone numbers, email addresses, birth dates and ticket purchase details of the people were released in the breach that also saw the personal information of Australian embassy staff living in Japan made public.

The report further said that an email from the FFA to fans who had ordered tickets to Australia's match against Japan on June 4 was accidentally sent out with an attachment including the personal details of all fans who had bought a seat.

Apologising for the breach, the FFA stated that the mistake was a severe administration oversight and totally unintentional.
