Pakistan have recalled middle-order batsman Umar Akmal in the 16-man ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against West Indies starting on September 30 in Sharjah, UAE.
Test batsman Asad Shafiq has also been named in the ODI squad following his impressive performance in the National T20 Cup while opening batsman Mohammad Hafeez has been left out due to fitness concerns.
Both Shafiq and Akmal played their last match in the format in 2015.
While Shafiq's previous match came against Zimbabwe in October 2015, Akmal has not been a part of an ODI squad since the 2015 World Cup.
However, pacers Umar Gul and Mohammad Irfan have not received a nod for the series against the Caribbean side.
Azhar Ali will continue to captain the side, with Sarfraz Ahmad being roped in as vice-captain.
The Pakistan ODI squad is as follows:
Azhar Ali (captain), Sharjeel Khan, Babar Azam, Asad Shafiq, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Umar Akmal, Mohammad Rizwan, Muhammad Nawaz, Imad Wasim, Yasir Shah, Rahat Ali, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Hasan Ali, Sohail Khan.
