With Cyclone Nilofar expected to hit the Indian and Pakistani coastlines in the next 36 hours, authorities in both countries are bracing themselves for the natural calamity that might follow in its wake.
According to the Dawn, the cyclone is about 910 kilometres south of the Pakistan coast.
It quoted Pakistan's chief meteorologist, Tauseef Alam, as predicting that the country could receive strong gusty winds and modest to heavy rains with a thunderstorm.
According to Met office, the sea along the Pakistan coast would be rough to very rough from Wednesday to Friday.
Fishermen in Sindh and Balochistan have been advised not to venture out to sea from Wednesday to Friday, while those who were already there, have been advised to return to land.
Disaster management authorities have said all necessary arrangements have been made to tackle any emergency-like situation arising out of the cyclone's impact.
