Parliament logjam: Govt. strikes reconciliatory note, says 'ready for discussion'

Asserting that the government is always open for discussion, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday expressed hope that wisdom will prevail and the Congress will stop creating hindrances in the Parliament.

"We hope that from tomorrow, both the Houses will function properly. And the opposition, especially Congress, will stop creating hindrances and make way for discussion. And whatever the issue be, let us discuss it. We have always been open to discussion," Naqvi told ANI.

"We are sure that wisdom will prevail and the two-day break would have given the opposition the time to introspect. We hope that the Parliament will start functioning from tomorrow," he added.

The BJP had earlier held Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party's vice-president Rahul Gandhi 'personally responsible' for the ongoing logjam in the Parliament and accused the duo of acting in an 'anti-democratic' manner.

"Congress is fairly responsible for the logjam in Parliament and their leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are personally responsible because many of the Congress MPs do not subscribe to the idea of continuous disruption, but their leaders are forcing them. This is frustration out of their electoral defeat," Javadekar said.

Both the Houses of Parliament have not been able to function with the opposition parties reiterating their demand for External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's resignation over her alleged help to former IPL chief Lalit Modi. The opposition has also been targeting the government over the Vyapam scam.
