The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that the board would be pushing the International Cricket Council (ICC) again for a reduction in the five-year ban on young pace bowler Mohammad Amir at ICC's Annual Conference that would be held in Melbourne on Tuesday.

Speculations are that an amended ICC anti-corruption code might be implemented to facilitate a quicker return to international cricket for players serving long-term bans.

The idea behind the move is to help the player prepare to play competitive cricket as soon as the ban period ends rather than wait for the period to get over before starting training.

According to The Dawn, a PCB official said that chairman Najam Sethi has inquired the advice of legal representatives and he would try his level best to convince the ICC for a reduction in the Amir's ban.

Amir had earlier said earlier this year that to have the opportunity to re-launch his career a few months ahead of the ban could make a huge difference to him and it was a massive boost for him to hear the good news regarding a possible amendment.
