Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a school in Pakistan, terming the strike 'dastardly and inhuman'.
Reacting to the ongoing terror siege at Peshawar's Army Public School by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has reportedly led to the death of 104 people, including 84 students, Singh said,"This dastardly and inhuman attack exposes the real face of terrorism."
The minister further said in his statement, "My heart goes out to the families of those children who got killed by the terrorists in Peshawar. I express my condolences to those families."
According to reports, at least six terrorists have stormed the school after scaling its walls dressed in Frontier Constabulary uniforms.
One of the militants reportedly blew himself up. Around 500 students and teachers are believed to be still inside the school.
A strong contingent of police and security forces reached the spot and blocked the area as the operation took place. The police have also reportedly surrounded the school perimeter.
Meanwhile, TTP spokesman Muhammad Khorasani said the attackers were instructed to target older and not younger students.
