Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged for a focus on water conservation, terming it crucial for all initiatives regarding the essential resource.
Chairing a high-level meet at the Prime Minister's Office for the reviewing of the progress of the National Rural Drinking Water Programme, Prime Minister Modi further said that while planning for rural areas, a clear provision should be made for the water requirements of cattle.
During the meeting, it was also observed that states can spend a portion of additional funds available for drinking water supply projects, following the increase in devolution of funds in accordance with the recommendations of the Finance Commission.
Union Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Chaudhary Birender Singh was also present at the meeting.
