Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a high level meet to review the work done so far to meet the target of the 'Housing for All' initiative.
A release from the Prime Minister's website said that he stressed on the need for all official agencies to adopt a 'flexible approach', taking into account local conditions such as building material, habits and lifestyles.
In the meeting, Prime Minister Modi said that the goal should be achieved 'village-by-village' in rural areas for the progress to be tangible effectively monitored. For urban areas, the Prime Minister suggested that urban solid waste be used to make bricks and all newly-constructed houses should take into account the required norms in disaster-prone areas.
Union Minister for Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister for Rural Development Chaudhary Birender Singh and senior officers were present for the meet.
