Expressing grief over the loss of lives in the militant attacks on tribals in the Kokrajhar and Sonitpur districts of Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday sanctioned ex-gratia relief for the victims.
The sanctioned ex gratia relief includes Rs. two lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased and Rs.50,000 to the seriously injured persons from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
Moreover, Rs.86 lakhs are being released to State Government from the PMNRF.
At least 68 people have died in Tuesday's Bodo militant attack in the Kokrajhar, Sonitpur and Chirang districts of Assam by the banned outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB).
