The Congress party on Tuesday remained apprehensive about the outcome of the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of Paris Climate Summit, saying that incidents of cross border terrorism were on a rise despite India's willingness for dialogue.

"Whatever may Nawaz Sharif say, he is always under a pressure from the Pakistan Army. The Prime Minister has initiated talks that are a good thing. We have always been willing to talk. But what is the point, the incidents of cross border terrorism are on a rise. So what result would the talks yield," Congress leader P.L. Punia told ANI.

Prime Minister Modi shook hands and talked to Sharif for a few minutes in Paris on the sidelines 21st session of the Conference of Parties (COP21) yesterday.

During the conversation, held without any delegates from either country around, Sharif was seen listening attentively as Prime Minister Modi spoke to him.

According to reports, the meeting was a courtesy call and the two leaders merely exchanged pleasantries during the interaction.
