PM Modi to address 10th East Asia Summit today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 10th East Asia Summit today here on the second day of his visit to Malaysia and will hold bilateral meetings with top leaders of various countries on the sidelines of the Summit.

The Summit will be making declarations and statements on seven key issues including the security concerns of the Asia-Pacific region, countering violent extremism and enhancement of regional Health Security relating to communicable diseases.

The looming threat of terror and prevailing situation in West Asia is likely to be a part of the discussions.

The top leaders of all the ten ASEAN member countries and the East Asia Summit members including India, China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and the USA are taking part in today's summit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the tone for its deliberations by emphasizing the need for adopting a Comprehensive Convention on the International Terrorism during his address to the ASEAN yesterday.

The leaders will also witness signing of Kuala Lumpur Declaration which enables setting up of the ASEAN Community and a new action plan ASEAN 2025 that intended for 'Forging ahead Together'.

Prime Minister Modi will address the Indian diaspora and interact with some of them. He will also meet a host of leaders including Ministers, Parliamentarians and public representatives from Malaysia.
